FederUnacoma Round Table: ISOBUS Interoperability
FederUnacoma, the Italian Association of Ag. Machine Manufacturers, has always taken an active role in supporting the AEF through the years. Although 2020 was a difficult year for everyone, FederUnacoma has taken the time to reflect on the industry’s future needs and decided to push harder on the throttle of innovations in agriculture.
From this review came the idea to organize an official round table with the goal to present AEF activities and latest technologies. The intention was to start a discussion about the future of agriculture and the technologies which are close to fruition, of course with a special attention to the Italian situation.
The participants to the round table were the major representatives of AEF, AEM and FederUnacoma: Alessandro Malavolti (FederUnacoma President, Peter van der Vlugt (AEF Chairman), Norbert Schlingmann (AEF General Manager) and Anita Sennet (AEM Sr. Director for Ag Services, also representing AgriEvolution).
The participation was very high: more than 90 persons representing 75 Italian agricultural machinery manufacturers. Many of these companies were hearing some of these topics for the first time and showed a very high level of attention. The panel made the discussion very interesting for the audience and kept their interest thoughout the whole session. Topics included a general introduction of the AEF, a discussion on the interoperability topic, and the new technologies AEF is actively working on.
A good deal of time was focused on the situation of the Italian companies and the difficulties for them to jump on board of “4.0” innovation. There was a very interesting exchange of ideas on how FederUnacoma and AEF can work even closer together to promote ISOBUS and the upcoming new technology and interoperability topics in Italy.
Even if 2020 has been a terrible year due to the pandemic, it was a very important year because, thanks to a national funding program, there has been a huge increase in the demand for advanced machines which will continue to grow with the extension of that program. This has awakned the interest of all big, medium and small Italian manufacturers and that is why the event was so important.
