AEF at InfoAg USA

From August 2nd to 4th 2016 the AEF made their first appearance at the InfoAg show in St. Louis, Missouri, USA with a booth that they shared with AgGateway. The AEF Communication and Marketing Sub-Team for North America took care of the preparations for this event. Overall the InfoAg Show was a good success for the AEF, which was not only reflected by the great demand for AEF printed information material, but also by a number of perspective new AEF members says Ryan Milligan, Head of the NA Communication and Marketing Group.

Plugfest in Bologna, Italy

With 215 attendees and 125 products to be tested at Savoia Hotel Regency in Bologna, beat all records. So creating a test matrix for 64 working sets in 46 time slots, finally amounting to more 2200 tests, was all about making the impossible possible. Nevertheless, the Plugfest organization team successfully mastered this challenge and all three Plugfest workshop days went smoothly.

AEF Chairman Peter van der Vlugt stated after the event: “The rising number of participants shows, that Plugfests are becoming more important to AEF members as an opportunity to test and improve the ISOBUS compatibility of their products.”

In 2017 the AEF Spring Plugfest will take place from May 9th to 11th, again at “Embassy Suites” in Lincoln, Nebraska, USA. The Fall Plugfest is scheduled for October 17th to 19th at “Maritim Hotel” in Stuttgart, Germany.

New Team Lead C&M

On September 1st Andrew Olliver, Product Manager – Precision Farming and ISOBUS at CNH Industrial, took over the team lead of the Communication and Marketing Team and the role as spokesman for Europe.

Olliver was born and educated in Auckland, New Zealand, and completed his studies with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is 48 years old and lives in Lugano, Switzerland.

Carsten Hühne, Product Manager & Business Development ISOBUS at Kverneland Group Deutschland, and past leader of the C&M team, had filled both positions from the beginnings of the AEF – from the development of the AEF’s corporate identity to regular communications with internal and external stakeholders. Combining his profound agricultural knowledge and marketing skills with his distinct passion for electronics he promoted AEF issues very successfully.

Chairman Peter van der Vlugt: “The AEF thanks Carsten for his contribution and commitment. He has a great share in our success story!”

At Plugfest in Bologna Hühne was officially thanked by van der Vlugt.

S&D ISOBUS training

In terms of knowledge on ISOBUS and AEF products the AEF also seeks to provide improved support to members. Therefore, the Project Team Service and Diagnostics is working on the development of standardized material that can be used for training within all companies.

The training approach chosen for this is called “blended learning”, combining flexible e-learning with traditional training methods.

It is planned to make the material available for download to be used for classroom lessons. The online version of the training will be integrated as “e-learning modules” in the AEF ISOBUS Database. Additionally, “learn-nuggets” will help to understand and proceed with different functions during usage of the Database.

New Search Function in the Database

Since mid September the AEF ISOBUS Database has additional ways of selecting products for the Compatibility Check. Until today users could only search by manufacturer, and then brand. But now they can also start by choosing a product category and, in the next step, a functionality they would like the product to support. For instance, a precision drill supporting TC-BAS. The database will then only show those manufacturers offering products that match the criteria.

Another new option to check the compatibility of products is to start directly by selecting a functionality. This will take the user to a list of corresponding categories to choose from, i.e. all categories containing products that support this exact Functionality. Again, another click will only show manufacturers with products matching the criteria. An example here could be manufacturers selling Pull Type Sprayers that support the Functionality TC-SC.

Upcoming trade shows

The Communications and Marketing Team is currently preparing the AEF’s attendance at EIMA and SIMA.

EIMA will take place from November 9th to 13th, 2016 in Bologna, Italy. FederUnacoma is supporting the AEF in planning the stand (Hall 41, Stand E).

At SIMA in Paris from February 26th to March 2nd 2017 the AEF will be sharing a stand with Axema, Kereval and Business France (Hall 5, Allée A).

At both shows AEF member Sontheim will sponsor the well-known “AEF Happy Hour” again.
