AEF Conformance Test Pricing Increase

Starting in January 2020 the annual fee that manufacturers pay to access the AEF ISOBUS Conformance Test will increase to 24.300 Euro for the Flat-Rate-License, 10.800 Euro for the Single-License and 3.400 Euro for the Multi-License. The Conformance Test was first made available to manufacturers in 2012 for an annual fee which has never increased! However, in the last seven years, the Conformance Test has been evolving, testing for new functionalities, for example TIM, has been added, as well as the continual maintenance that is necessary for any software product.

From the graph you can see that the AEF has been subsidizing the Conformance Test developments as the annual income from selling licences to manufacturers has never been sufficient. This price increase will allow the AEF to engage a supplier to write the test cases and will dramatically reduce the Conformance Test development time. In the past, volunteers from member companies were writing the test cases, however they could only progress as their company work load would allow.
This outsourcing will therefore shorten the time to market of new AEF ISOBUS Functionalities and allow the Conformance Test to keep pace with the ISOBUS developments within the agriculture industry.

By running a copy of the Conformance Test in-house Manufacturers’ are able to speed up the time it takes to develop compatible ISOBUS products. As they are developing ISOBUS software they can be running the AEF ISOBUS Conformance Test numerous times to see where the software passes the test and where it fails.

The end result is that when the ISOBUS software is ready for release by the manufacturer and is officially tested by one of the five licensed testing houses, the manufacturer already knows that it will pass the Conformance Test. Allowing that newly certified ISOBUS product to be listed in the AEF ISOBUS database as soon as it is launched! AEF ISOBUS Certification is a sign of quality which more and more customers are demanding before purchasing a new piece of ISOBUS equipment.

In addition, Manufacturers benefit as they see less ISOBUS compatibility issues in the field resulting in reduced dealer technician and manufacturer product support involvement.
