AEF at Agritechnica 2025:
Advancing Interoperability and Digital Standards
The Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation (AEF) had a strong presence at Agritechnica 2025. The booth served as a hub for technical discussions, live demonstrations, and knowledge exchange among manufacturers, software providers, and industry experts.
Key Technical Focus Areas
AEF showcased progress on several critical projects that are shaping the future of agricultural interoperability:
➜ Agricultural Interoperability Network (AgIN)
A centerpiece of AEF’s presence was the AgIN demonstrator, showcasing the first implementations by member companies. It illustrated how AgIN enables secure, standardized cloud-to-cloud data exchange between OEMs, data hubs, and farm management systems. Industry leaders shared strong statements underlining AgIN’s importance. These commitments highlight AgIN as a milestone for interoperability and a trusted agricultural data space for the future.
➜ High-Speed ISOBUS (HSI) and Digital Camera Systems (DCS)
Visitors had the opportunity to experience a dedicated demonstration table featuring HSI and camera hardware for hands-on interaction. These developments enable faster data transfer and improved image processing, supporting advanced automation and precision farming applications.
➜ Wireless Infield Communication (WIC) and Road Safety
WIC technology demonstrated how machine-to-machine communication can optimize in-field operations and enhance safety when transitioning to public roads. A highlight was the FieldDataSync project, which received the prestigious DLG Agrifuture Concept Winner 2025 award. This innovation enables wireless, cross-brand communication between machines, allowing the exchange of data such as field boundaries, position information, and video streams.
Collaboration with Strategic Partners
AEF was proud to highlight its partnerships with two key organizations that play a vital role in advancing interoperability and data standards:
➜ ISOBUS Test Center (ITC)
As an AEF recognized test laboratory, ITC ensures compliance with ISOBUS standards and AEF guidelines. Their expertise in hardware and software testing, and certification processes is essential for guaranteeing interoperability and reliability across brands.
➜ AgGateway
As a global non-profit organization focused on enabling digital agriculture, AgGateway works to harmonize data standards across the supply chain. Their collaboration ensures that interoperability extends beyond machinery to include agronomic and business data flows, creating a truly integrated ecosystem.
Presentations and Technical Sessions
AEF hosted a series of technical presentations and discussions, focusing on interoperability and digital standards. Highlights included:
➜ AgIN Demonstrator and Industry Statements
Showcasing the first implementations by contributing members and explaining how AgIN enables secure cloud-to-cloud data exchange. The session “AEF presents the AgIN Data Space” concluded with refreshments kindly sponsored by Materna, creating a great opportunity for networking.
➜ HSI and Camera Systems
Exploring high-speed data transfer and advanced imaging for precision farming.
➜ TRACK - formerly known as Tramline Control (TRAM)
Introducing certification processes and integration into AEF functionalities for improved TRACK management.
➜ INFO Functionality
Presenting how INFO collects diagnostic data, displays it in a standardized way, and enables structured export for better machine transparency and serviceability.
In addition to the technical program, AEF also hosted a Happy Hour sponsored by Sontheim Industrie Elektronik GmbH, providing an informal setting for further exchange among industry professionals.
Acknowledgment
AEF extends its sincere appreciation to all members, partners, and contributors who supported preparations and on-site activities. Their expertise and commitment were instrumental in making Agritechnica 2025 a success.
